Green Heating Solutions – Fenwich Hotel 26th January

Information from Energy Saving Scotland:

If your New Year’s resolution is to save money you could make the switch to a more affordable source of heating.  For example a heat pump or wood-fuelled boiler may provide a better heating solution for you.  Not only is it kinder to the environment it can also make a difference to your energy costs potentially saving you hundreds of pounds each year

There is a range of financial support available and you may be able to earn cash from your heating system through the UK Government’s Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive scheme, which should be available from summer 2013.

The Energy Saving Scotland advice centre is holding an Energy Exhibition on Saturday 26th January at the Fenwick Hotel (Junction 8 M77) to showcase energy efficiency and renewable technologies. Come along and talk to our advisors between 10.00am and 3.00pm to find out more about the financial and practical support on offer.

Mini-Gathering in Aberdeen Oct 2012

The report from the Mini-Gathering in Aberdeen held on the 22nd October is now available.

People from 13 congregations came to event, which aimed to inspire and equip congregations for their Eco-Congregation journey. Speakers from Cults Parish Church, Skene Parish Church and Queen’s Cross Parish Church shared their Eco-Congregation plans and achievement. We heartily recommend reading the report if you are looking for inspiration or curious to find out how other congregations carry out their Eco-Congregation journey.

Rev. Ewan Aitken also gave an inspirational sermon prior to the gathering and abseiled off the Forth bridge for charity later the same day.

You can read the full report by clicking on the link: Report on Mini Gathering 2012

We wish to thank everyone who made this gathering such a success. Especially the wonderful speakers from Cults Parish Church, Skene Parish Church and Queen’s Cross Parish Church.

Report of our 100th Award Celebration

Eco-Congregation activists from around Scotland met at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarkston on Saturday to celebrate this parish receiving the 100th Eco-Congregation Scotland award. The celebration was led by parish priest Fr Jim Duggan and Rev Ewan Aitken, chair of Eco-Congregation Scotland. Michael Martin and Jim Seenan of St Josephs gave a presentation on the work the parish had done to achieve the award and Philippa Bonella of SCIAF spoke about the connection between climate justice, poverty and the environment.

The presentation was made by Councillor Alistair Carmichael, Provost of East Renfrewshire Council whose ward includes St Joseph’s Church.

One unexpected guest was Ken Mackintosh MSP, who interrupted a family birthday party to pop in and congratulate members of the parish on their achievement.

Here are some photographs of the event taken by Rev Mitchell Bunting, ecumenical officer of the United Reformed Church. We hope to have more photographs and press coverage soon.
