#cop21baton in Arbroath Herald.

The Eco-Congregation Climate Justice Baton got a mention in this week’s Arbroath Herald:

Knox’s and St Vigeans Clumsy Clowns Circus Holiday Club were privileged to have the Eco Baton with them during last week’s holiday club.

The Eco baton, made from recycled wood, carries the inscription – Time for Climate Justice – is travelling around Scottish churches as part of an initiative from Eco Congregations Scotland to act on climate change.

The baton will reach its final destination to the International Climate Change Conference in Paris at the beginning of December where over 190 countries will meet to attempt to negotiate a deal on climate change to limit emissions developed countries and help developing countries adapt to the impact of climate change and develop low carbon economies.

The burden of climate change often falls most heavily on the poorest in the world, those who have done least to cause it.

All week the children have been hearing just a little more about environmental issues and they have enthusiastically taken part in daily challenges such as reducing their use of electronic equipment to save energy and recycling their rubbish.

On Wednesday the Clumsy Clowns were very happy to receive a visit from the Rev. Dougal Edwards, the Moderator of Angus Presbytery who arrived on his bike from Carnoustie to hear all about the Eco Baton.

Rev. Edwards was very pleased to hear of their challenges and enthusiastically encouraged them to keep up this very important work.
