EDINBURGH #LightTheWay – Climate Prayer Vigil

From one of our local congregations:

Please join us on September 24th as we come together with thousands around the world to #LightTheWay for a better future. As people of any faith we’re answering Pope Francis’ call to pray for action on climate change, poverty and inequality, the night before he speaks to the UN.

The next day, 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development will be formally adopted and Pope Francis will address the United Nations General Assembly in New York, urging words to be turned into bold action.

#LightTheWay events are taking place in more than 70 countries, from India to South Africa and Brazil. Join us in Scotland at Edinburgh’s King’s Hall, home to Community Church. In Edinburgh there will be a simple short service. Come and light a candle and help us read out short prayers together. Our hope and prayer is that these commitments are carried through into action that makes a difference.

Sustainable development is at the heart of justice issues and tackling climate change.
