Administrator – Climate Change Project
Hours: Part time, 17.5 hours a week
Closing date: 24 August 2015
Job ref. no.: 23/15
An opportunity has arisen to join a small team in the Church of Scotland helping congregations to respond to climate change. This ground breaking project supports churches across Scotland and helps them to become ‘eco-congregations’ taking action to measure and reduce their carbon footprint. This year we are taking a ‘climate baton’ around Scotland before sending it to Paris for the climate change conference in December. For more details see: http://www.ecocongregationscotland.org/get-involved/events/baton-relay/
We work in partnership with the other churches, Christian Aid, SCIAF, Stop Climate Chaos Scotland and the Scottish Government to support Eco-Congregation Scotland, work that has been recognised and copied internationally.
Working to the Climate Change Officer you will help provide vital support to congregations by maintaining and keeping up to date web based resources and social media; and by helping to arrange meetings and events. There will also be a chance to take part in work of the Church of Scotland green group, to help promote environmental action in church offices.
You will be well organised and a good team player. A knowledge of web base communications and social media is essential and an interest in environmental issues a real advantage.
