Wardie Parish Church achieves Gold Award

We are delighted that Wardie Parish Church has become the second eco-congregation to gain a Gold Award.

Here is what our assessors said about their award application:

The application described a wide-ranging and interesting variety of action embedded in the life of the congregation. The assessors were very impressed with your thorough, integrated approach to planning and review. It is very encouraging for us to see a congregation like yours that is incorporating care for creation as a sustainable, integral part of its work and worship. In the words of one of the assessors, “I am particularly impressed that some elements have been maintained for several years. Wardie seems to add to their work without losing the earlier projects.

Not only is the award for your inspirational and innovative work in creation care but it also recognises your sustained support for Eco-Congregation Scotland and the Edinburgh network over many years.

This is the latest in a flood of applications for our new Eco-Congregation Awards.

Awards presented recently include:

  • 2 gold awards (Carlops, Wardie)
  • 7 silver awards (Selkirk Parish Church, St Columba’s by the Castle, Holy Trinity Melrose, Callander Kirk, St. Ninian’s Perth, Murrayfield Parish Church and Stirling Methodist)
  • 4 bronze awards (Queensferry Kirk, St. Andrews Arbroath, Livingston United Parish and Lenzie Old)

Congratulations to all of you for your hard work and continued commitment to the environment.
