Guided walks around Old Melrose monastery.

About three miles east of the Border town of Melrose lies the site of the original Celtic monastery, founded by monks from Iona some five hundred years before the Cistercians appeared in Scotland. It was here at Old Melrose that a young man called Cuthbert was converted to Christianity and received his training to the priesthood from Prior Boisil (St Boswell).

During summer months the Melrose Historical & Archaeological Association arranges regular guided walks around the monastic site and surrounding countryside. These take place on the first Monday of each month, starting at 1.30 pm from the Old Melrose Tearoom (off the A68).
