Congratulations to Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church and the Lauriston Jesuit Centre in Edinburgh, who gained their first Eco-Congregation awards. Their particular achievements include – joined environmental initiatives between the church and the centre. While the church’s peace and justice group was clearly the prime mover behind their green policies, Lauriston Jesuit Centre have managed to achieve solid buy-in from all the other sectors of the church community. – an impressive and ongoing “Environment Series” programme of talks and events. – the refurbishment of church fabric, especially the hall, to a very high environmental standard and the amount of time and effort put in to secure a substantial Climate Challenge Fund grant. – the production of Scottish Catholic Study Guide on the environment.
