Let’s talk about the climate emergency – Plastic. Fantastic?
May 31 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
As Scotland comes into the spotlight hosting COP26 – the United Nations climate talks due in Glasgow this November – we are calling on all Scotland’s churches to join the conversation and take action on the climate emergency.
One of the most powerful ways we can encourage change is in talking, listening and telling our stories. Eco-Congregation Scotland has produced “Let’s talk about the climate emergency“, monthly themed resources to help congregations take part in awareness raising conversations about the climate emergency, encouraging everyone to take action.
Plastic is used in many different items, from food storage boxes, cups, toothbrushes, dog food pouches and car tyres to clothing. It’s durable and waterproof. A useful material but is plastic fantastic?
While some plastics can be recycled not all are easy to reuse. Plastic doesn’t break down easily, although if left long enough it may start to break down into microplastics. Plastic pollution has been noted in waterways and the world’s oceans.
What should our relationship be to this material and how do we deal with it?
Join us to discuss plastics and how we might begin to rethink how we use them in our day to day lives.
