As reported in Third Force News:
Forget the Great British Bake off – and get ready for the great British switch off.
Scots telly star Flora Shedden is backing this year’s WWF Earth Hour – which asks people to show their support for our planet by hitting the off switch on their gadgets and appliances for 60 minutes.
The Bake Off contestant is suggesting people use the hour, which starts at 8.30pm on Saturday, 19 March, to hold their own candlelit dinner party, and share their candlelit selfies on social media.
Chef Shedden said: “I’m delighted to be supporting Earth Hour and hope as many people as possible get together with family and friends and hold a candlelit dinner party.
By taking part you are showing you care about tackling climate change and protecting our brilliant planet
“I’m passionate about food and about using the rich variety of locally grown fruit, vegetables and meats available here in Scotland. I will certainly be taking part in Earth Hour and taking the opportunity to try out a few new recipes.”
