Trevor Jamison visits Orkney eco-congregations

Eco Congregation Scotland  Environmental Chaplain visit to Orkney, 12-15 May 2014

Eco Congregation Environmental Chaplain, Trevor Jamison, visited Orkney in May this year. He attended the Church of Scotland Presbytery Meeting, speaking in the afternoon about Eco Congregation Scotland, receiving a positive response, and having conversation with a number of ministers and elders.

Trevor also met with the minister at Kirkwall East (Church of Scotland), Julia Lewandowska and members of the congregation’s Mission Group, discussing how they might move forward on a Continuing Award, thinking that the spiritual sphere of church life might be the area where they attempt something new.

The next day, Trevor was given a conducted tour of the East Mainland Parish courtesy of the minister, Wilma Johnston, and an opportunity to discuss the process for a church registering as an Eco Congregation.

In between these events and meetings Trevor also managed informal conversation with folk from the Roman Catholic parish and from the United Reformed Church’s Peedie Kirk.
